FAQ
How do I know I’m in labor?
Since labor does not always start by your water breaking, it can be tricky to tell especially if you are a first time parent. But typically it starts with a contraction. It’s best to contact your doula or your doctor to tell them what your are physically experiencing so they can help you determine whether or not you are in labor.
if my labor starts in the middle of the night can i still call my doula?
Absolutely! In fact, I encourage you to call as soon as you think you are in labor even if you do not need your doula to arrive just yet.
WHAT KIND OF TRAINING DID YOU GO THROUGH?
I trained with DONA and DTI
Is labor painful?
Labor is painful. But the beauty is that anyone born with a uterus has a body designed to birth and experience the sensation of labor. And I love to remind all birthing people that they are stronger than they may realize. Doulas help manage that sensation with different comfort measures for those that wish to have an unmedicated birth. Some people choose to get an epidural which can take away some or all of labor pains. And thats ok too!
what is the difference between a birth doula and postpartum doula?
A birth doula is a support person for birth and a postpartum doula is a support person for the period after you have given birth and are adjusting to life with a new baby.
